Montagne Jeunesse joins international animal charity Four Paws in bid to “Kiss Animal Tested Cosmetics Goodbye” Cruelty-Free Beauty Day 2012 for MEPs a stunning success

Montagne Jeunesse  was delighted to have the opportunity to work alongside leading European animal charity FOUR PAWS at its first-ever Cruelty-Free Beauty Day for MEPs , held on 6 December at the European Parliament, as part of FOUR PAWS’ KISS ANIMAL TESTED COSMETICS GOODBYE campaign.  The day was a huge success and Montagne Jeunesse was proud to lend its support to this exciting campaign to ensure the long-awaited full EU sales ban on animal-tested cosmetics goes through in March 2013.

The Cruelty-free  Beauty Day  was attended and supported by numerous MEPs, who pledged their support for the campaign while enjoying a tempting array of cruelty-free treatments and products.

Animal testing for new cosmetics was banned in the EU in March 2009 but many cosmetic ingredients continue to be tested on animals outside the EU and are imported for sale. The March 2013 complete sales ban represents the final phase of a long-awaited full ban, which has been subject to repeated delays since 1998. There are already an estimated 15-20,000 cosmetic ingredients available to the industry, as well as a variety of humane alternative methods to replace animal tests.

“Montagne Jeunesse remains at the forefront of providing gorgeous yet ethical cosmetics for the beauty market, and this exciting event was a chance to showcase our fabulous range of products while lending our support to this vital campaign.”

“We would like to thank FOUR PAWS for championing this cause, and for organising an innovative event to raise awareness about the suffering of animals used in cosmetics testing; also the MEPs who attended the event and enjoyed sampling our cruelty-free products. We look forward to their support to ensure the full sales ban goes ahead in March 2013!”

Hope4faith was nominated as one of the charities to receive a donation from Montagne Jeunesse this year by Mike who runs our print room.   We were very pleased when Faith, her parents Sarah & Darrell and brother Morgan along with Mike’s daughter Lauren who is Faith’s Brownie leader, all came to see us here at the Green Barn.

Faith has Cerebral Palsy and she and her family are raising money for Faith to have a life changing operation called a Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy at the St Louis Children’s Hospital in the USA.

You can learn more about Faith’s story and information on how to donate at www.hope4Faith.co.uk

Montagne Jeunesse scoop two awards!
Posted on by

Yesterday afternoon, myself and Mark attended the Swansea Bay Business awards for the Top 100 companies in South West Wales. An excellent achievement for MJI to make this Top 100 list which between them employ over 24,000 people in SW Wales and have a combined turnover of nearly £5 billion.

Montagne Jeunesse were in the final three nominees for two awards. The first of these being for Corporate Social Responsibility and although we didn’t win that particular one it was quite an accolade to have made the final three out of the 100 firms involved.

Our second nomination was for the Go Green award and that brought much better news as we won. This award is in recognition of all that we do environmentally which has covered many areas of the business. For example, the use of the two office printers instead of individual desktop ones, the baling and recycling of the cardboard and plastic carried out by the warehouse to the use of the recycling bins in the offices and outside the canteen. It’s been a real team effort. It is also in recognition of the work we have done from the early days in the Eco Factory with the grass roof, solar panels and wind turbine and onto what you can see outside now with our meadow and the work put in to turn what was once the site of a chemical plant into an area very rich in biodiversity and a haven for species such as the endangered Small Blue Butterfly.

To triumph in this area, against all manner of other firms, such as Admiral Insurance and large financial institutions is an accolade of which each and every one of us can be very proud. I know opinion has been divided regarding the appearance of the Meadow but I think this award vindicates everything we have done with it so far and I’m sure the butterflies, bee orchids and the many other species now enjoying life on the Green Barn site would agree.

We have also recently won a supplier award from Superdrug, Terry our UK sales director picked up the award, we’re chuffed to bits. Hard work does pay off. Keep ‘em rolling…
