Ice Cool Kids
Posted on by

One of the charities which all of us here at Montagne Jeunesse are proud to be associated with is Ice Cool Kids.

Based in Port Talbot and run entirely by volunteers, the aim of Ice Cool Kids is to take groups of special needs children, some with life limiting conditions on skiing trips both in the UK and abroad, when funds permit. ICK allows these kids the chance to experience an activity from which they would normally be excluded. Not only is this of great therapeutic value but of course also provides the kids to enjoy a huge sense of fun, enjoyment and achievement. What they learn from skiing in terms of co-ordination, balance and movement control can help these kids achieve their full potential and improve their quality of life.

Supporting causes in the community in which we are based is very important to us here at MJ and as we enter our third year of being associated with the Ice Cool Kids it is a cause we look forward to supporting for many years to come.

Receiving the annual donation from Montagne Jeunesse on behalf of Ice Cool Kids are Sarah, Nathan and Danielle.  Nathan is one of the many kids who have benefitted from skiing with Ice Cool Kids.

Our Christmas wish
Posted on by

Rather than sending paper cards and gifts at Christmas we choose to give to those who need it most. This Christmas the charities that we have supported have been chosen by our staff and are all close to the hearts of our staff & something that we believe in. This year we have supported Carmarthen’s Women’s Aid, the Lluest Horse and Pony Trust, Verity the UK charity for women whose lives are affected by Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Ice Cool Kids.

Make a Difference Makeovers
Posted on by

This year we’ve donated a selection of our face masks to this amazing programme – the 2011 Make a Difference beauty bags. The Centrepoint charity and Make a Difference Makeovers gives 250 vulnerable women something to smile about at Christmas. The Christmas campaign aims to put together Christmas gifts for 250 young women in Centrepoint hostels. We know it’s so worthwhile.  A lot of the girls don’t get presents from anyone else, so to receive something like this is pretty special – it makes their Christmas especially as they don’t expect it. The Make A Difference Makeover programme has now been running for nine years, and has helped literally to transform many of the lives of the homeless young women who’ve taken part in these workshops.

The following pics show Santa’s elves at the Centrepoint packing day on the 15th Dec!
